The biennial match between the Wayfarers FPs and the schools was held at Bruntsfield Golfing Society on 2nd May.
David Rennie and Robin Black played for the OGs against Reene Carroll and Alex Dawson from the school. Reene is doing her GSCEs right now, but will jet off to Florida next year to finish school at the IMG Academy (Nelly Korda’s alma mater), and Alex, who is only in the 4th form, but plays off 5 and I’m reliably informed “bombs it”.
This quality was frankly too much for the OGs to take, and they succumbed to a 2 hole defeat on the 18th green. While bad news in the short term for the OGs, clearly good news for the future!
Next year the pupils will take on the R&A at the Old Course. This won’t appear on the fixture list, but R&A members who wish to play should contact the club.
