We met for the annual fixture with Old Sedberghians at Royal Wimbledon Golf Club on 27th March in glorious sunshine, albeit with some Spring chill in the air – a far cry from last year when the match was cancelled due to the course being waterlogged following 48 hours of continuous rain!
Both teams had some difficulty in persuading people out so early in the year… maybe it was the competing attraction of a good ski season in Europe this year was too much! However we assembled six players each side – David Gordon, Nick Kilpatrick, Alasdair Cockburn, Niall Booker. Dougie Lawson and Tim Worlledge representing the OGs – to play 3 matches of St Andrews Foursomes, aggregate holes up format. Sadly, despite a return of 1 match won, 1 drawn and 1 lost, we lost the match overall by an aggregate of 4 holes down.
Nonetheless, a very enjoyable day, helped by the marvellous weather and a course, following its substantial works over the last 3 years, in excellent condition”
