Nine OGGS golfers travelled to Prestwick for the triangular fixture against Old Lorettonians and Old Sedberghians.
The four Glenalmond pairings in the morning foursomes played extremely well in their matches against Loretto, taking a commanding 3-1 lead into lunch. Sedbergh proved to be a tougher opponent, and we found ourselves down 1.5 – 2.5.
The three teams enjoyed an excellent long lunch in the Prestwick Dining room, allowing ample time for the match managers to prepare their lineups for the afternoon.
The morning pairings of Greer Murray and Ruaraidh Stewart and Jamie Mackie and Jim Gully were encouraged to continue their successful partnerships. Andy Richmond, kindly joining for lunch and subbing in for Graham Stewart for the afternoon golf, paired up with Mike Clarke, and Brian Richmond & Graeme Russell completed the lineup for the afternoon.
A draw with Loretto (2-2) and a resounding 3-1 win over Sedbergh saw Glenalmond complete a resounding 5-3 win over Loretto and a satisfying comeback victory over Sedbergh 4.5-3.5.
Thanks to the nine OGGS golfers who travelled from near and far to support this fixture and to the team at Prestwick for their excellent hospitality and well-prepared golf course.
