The annual weekend is the highlight of the Old Glenalmond Golfing Society Annual calendar. It usually takes place on the 2nd Saturday and the following Sunday in October, subject to it not being a clash with Glenalmond leave out or half term. We have been hosted by the Golf House Club, Elie for many years, and we have no plans to change location any time soon.

It involves one round of golf on Saturday, followed by the AGM and Annual Dinner, with another round of golf on Sunday. OGGS members and their guests are most welcome to come to play golf and enjoy the dinner, but guests cannot enter the main trophies, nor attend the AGM.

This note gives the standing annual instructions for the event,  with FAQs at the bottom. Details of costs (half price golf and dinner for those under 30) and dinner choices will be found in the online fixture entry, which will be available from 1st August when entries open. The form allows you to invite one guest. If you wish to bring more guests, please contact the Hon Sec.

  • I’m struggling with the entry form, can I get some help?

Yes, please contact the Hon Sec at secretary@oldglenalmondgolf.co.uk and he can help you.

  • I’m not able to attend, should I complete the form?

If you wish to offer a donation to support a young OG or a guest, then yes, but otherwise no. You can offer your apologies for the AGM by via the form in the formal note from the Hon Sec with the AGM meeting papers.

  • Will guests be able to golf

Yes. While only members can play in the Boyes, Neishes, Veterans and Stocks (Sunday), male guests can play on both Saturday and Sunday. If there are sufficient numbers, prizes may be on offer. For female members and guests, the Ladies Trophy is played for on Saturday. If sufficient numbers of ladies play on Sunday then prizes may be on offer. Note, guests may be OGs, but they cannot enter the main trophies unless they are paid up members of the society.

  • Where can I stay?

Finding a place to stay can be tricky, but from the Golf House Club Elie website, they provide links to holiday accommodation and taxi services if you are staying in St Andrews, which is only a 25 minute drive from Elie. Do ask around as there are many OG members of the Golf House Club and others who may be able to offer accommodation. Book early to avoid disappointment.
