Captain Niall Booker led a strong OGGS side to victory against the pupils at Cairnies on Bank Holiday Sunday.
The course was felt to be in reasonable condition, given the early phase of the season and the wet spring. The greens, in particular, were found to be running reasonably fast (and true) despite a covering of dew.
The morning foursomes were almost evenly shared with OGGS lunching on a 2.5 – 1.5 lead. Despite the absence of Captain Booker’s venison burgers (on health and safety grounds), the OGGS team kicked on in the afternoon fourball betterball, fortified by his very kind provision of wine, and stormed to a 5.5 – 2.5 victory.
